Of all the ones to perform tonight, I have to go with Norman, the goofball poof who is having a blast with American Idol.  Hey, we know the kid who sang last is going to make it into the 3 selected this week - it’s the other two we need to vote for.  Steph is voting for the bald guy, he was ok, but not good enough for the contest.  And that’s the truth-t-p-p-p-p-t-t-t-t!!!

Work

I sit here watching UHD, getting ready to crash for a bit of sleep.  Tomorrow morning I go to work, grateful I have a job, saddened that many of my friends and aquaintences no longer have jobs.  I am equally saddened that they will not have any way to pay for food or utilities or housing, with the way the government is doling out money to the wrong people.

What I am saying is that if we give away the cash in these so-called stimulus packages, using cash we have (or not have) in the Treasury, where are the unemployement funds these out-of-work folk can apply for come from???  Seriously!  Where do the funds come from?  If every governmental agency is tasked with cutting back, that’ll take care of some of the funds, but not enough.  So where do we get the rest of the funds?  Oh, yeah, unemployement taxes, the very funds that are supposed to help the average worker funds enough to find a new job and get settled in to the new surroundings.

If the unemployement funds are not available, then where do the unemployed people go to get funds to pay rent, buy food, clothe thier children?  The lotto?  Start selling drugs?

I am lucky I have a job.  I am lucky my limo and taxi business give me the extra cash needed to cover the little things we used to do when my wife was still working. I pay my taxes, I believe in doing my part - I am a veteran.  But I cannot do more than I do, and am going to be pissed if the government taxes my employer out of business, tries to tax me out of business, or tries to raise my taxes.

Go Daniel Gokey!  Ok, I like American Idol, and season 8 is going to be one of the best - and I think Gokey is the next one.  Of course, they has him go last, letting all the other ones fall flat without knowing where the bar was going to end up.  I am writing this just before he sings, knowing completely that he will make this song the best of the night.  You’ll see.

Economic Stimulus - yeah, right

I was asked what would I do with any economic stimulus check I might get… I will save it, duh!  Like that is going to happen, me get a check, out of the blue from the Obama government.  They want us to spend on the economy, but, what is left to spend it on?  Everyone is going out of business because all the jobs left because no-one buys the copper we mine, and if no-one can get a paycheck to spend, it does no good to offer a super-special low-price deal to try and stay in business!  Get real!

No, I will stash the cashed check somewhere, and spend it on things I need instead of on thinks I like, because, who knows where the next stimulus check is coming from.

Besides, the last stimulus check I saw came from the Bush admin, and I haven’t seen anything from the new guys yet. Heard ‘em talk, believe it when I see it.

Besides, maybe I should spend on what I owe…  hmmmmm….

Ok, I am finally convinced I should be blogging.  I have come to the conclusion that no-one can know what my inner thoughts on anything are unless they can read what I am thinking.  Dont assume I know what I am writing, I am writing at an almost sub conciense level, where spelling doesn’t matter and grammar is far from important.  What I think is important is that I get my mind clear and my immediate thoughts dow so I can try to tackle bigger and otherwise more important things.

First off, who is Dave?  I am a 49 year old Safford native, been here since I was 2, my mom is from here (SHS Class of ‘54) and I feel I may possibly die here.  I left for several years, joining a carnival, then the Navy, then running computer stores, then radio (KFMM 99.1), now a service writer at TA’s Specialties (www.tasspecialties.com). I am a Republican, a veteran, I do not take either the pro-life or the pro-choice side - my side is the not-my-choice side.  So don’t ask.

I am deeply troubled about our new President - he fed off the base needs of thousands of otherwise helpless people and had them believe change was on the way.  He gained the momentum, and the true powers-that-be saw it coming and bailed on our economy.  The path Barack Obama wants to put us on is pure destruction, and the money-bag power mongers got out.  Had absolutely nothing to do with “the past 8 years” or the Bush legacy - it has to do with our form of democracy going stale on the common man.  Had the war on terrorism continued on US soil instead of over-there, we would all be thinking alot differently and we would be thinking like our fore-fathers did when they forged this country. We would be alot more partiotic, that’s for sure.

Don’t get me wrong, I do not and will not toe-the-political-GOP-line just because I am a Republican.  I cannot align myself with the left-wing idiots that populate the Democratic party!  I would rather be lumped with extreme conservatives than with tree-hugging weirdos and no-impact carbon-toe-print green freaks.  Those dumbasses need to wake up and smell the roses - oh, wait, that would disrupt the pollen, thus disturbing the migratory habits of the not-so-rare Africanized honey bee.  Sorry, can’t have that happening, can we oh mule-mascot-activists?

Anyway, I just wanted to start things off, and rant and rave a bit like others do.  Hope you find this entertaining, kinda like the red squirrel roast we did on the air at KFMM when the mountain burned.  Remember that?

Email me if you must, dave@charminglytrendy.com or IM me at yahoo to bigdavee39@yahoo.com

later for now
